What I Have Seen and Heard - Archbishop Gregory's Weekly Column

Letter to the Editor

Published: June 21, 2007

To the Editor:

Archbishop Gregory, thank you again for staging the Catholic event for the Archdiocese of Atlanta and surrounding areas—the Eucharistic Congress! Every year we try to participate in the Congress, usually by volunteering in the Kid Track, so parents can feel secure about leaving their children in a place where they will have fun but still learn about Christ in the Eucharist at the same time. This year we volunteered for set-up on Friday and attended the talks on Saturday. Wow—what an array of motivational speakers and entertainers.

Archbishop Donoghue put so much effort into getting the Eucharistic Congress started. Thank you, Archbishop Donoghue! But thank you, Archbishop Gregory, for continuing this tradition that hopefully will be remembered by everyone, especially children, as the day when their parents took them to this huge convention center where everyone came together to experience the Body of Christ by processing together, praying together, listening together, shopping together in the big Catholic department store, and finally worshipping together in a room where you were so far away, but could be seen on so many screens, as our “fearless leader in the Faith”!
