To the Editor:
I was very disappointed to read “Study of U.S. Migrant Rights Brings Officials to Georgia” in the May 24 edition of the Bulletin, which continues to ignore the subject of human rights and dignity for people who are compelled by their terrible situation in their own country of Mexico to leave it and illegally enter the U.S. Where is the voice and the moral courage of the U.N. on protecting the rights of Mexicans within their own country of Mexico? Where is the U.N. on making people aware of how terribly corrupt and deplorable the conditions are in Mexico that force millions of Mexicans to leave their own country on a dangerous journey to illegally enter the U.S.? If Mexico was a safe and prosperous country in the first place this terrible tragedy wouldn’t be happening.
What would the U.N.’s position be if the situation in Canada was as terrible as it is in Mexico? I’ll bet there’d a lot of outrage at Canada. Where is the outrage over what is happening in Mexico? Why does this bigotry and racism exist against Mexicans?
The second thing concerning this article is the promotion of the ACLU. The underlying theme of this article is human rights. Of all the organizations to promote, the ACLU is one of the worst. The ACLU has provided, and continues to aggressively promote laws which make it very easy to kill unborn children, i.e., abortion. Where is the ACLU in protecting and promoting the rights of the millions of unborn human beings? If anything, this article should have vociferously condemned the ACLU for their active support of unborn human murder. Where was that outrage in this article on the ACLU? Debbie Seagraves, of the ACLU of Georgia, is quoted on her position and, that of the ACLU of Georgia, concerning the protection of human rights. What is her position and that of the ACLU of Georgia when it comes to protecting the rights of unborn human beings?
This article was written without any of the truths concerning the racism and bigotry that apparently exists concerning being silent and not reporting on the human rights violations that occur to many Mexicans within Mexico that force them to leave their own country in the first place. In addition, the promotion of the ACLU without any appropriate condemnation of their support for unborn human murder was inexcusable.
Why weren’t these issues brought up in this article?
