‘Dualing’ It Out On The Mat

Published: January 18, 2007

ATLANTA—Blessed Trinity High School wrestled the trophy away from Marist School during the fifth annual Catholic Duals wrestling tournament held Jan. 10 at Marist’s Atlanta campus. Marist had won the tournament every year since its inception in 2003.

The Catholic Duals, which brings the wrestling teams of Blessed Trinity, Roswell, Marist, Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fairburn, and St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, together for competition, was the idea of Blessed Trinity wrestling head coach Richard Barden.

Blessed Trinity managed to win this year’s tournament by defeating Marist 45-24 in the first match, Our Lady of Mercy 66-12 in the second match and St. Pius 77-6 in the final match.

The winning team gets to host the tournament the following year, so the 2008 Catholic Duals will take place at Blessed Trinity.
