Monstrance Given In Serran’s Memory

Published: November 10, 2005

When 76-year-old Kenneth James Murphy died back on Sept. 23, 2004, at his family’s request memorial contributions were made out to the Metro Serra Club. The donations were subsequently used to purchase a monstrance for former Metro Club chaplain Father Luke Ballman’s rectory chapel at St. Augustine Church, Covington. In a tearful presentation on Oct. 14, the monstrance was presented to Father Ballman on behalf of Murphy’s youngest daughter Julia, left, and his wife of 53 years Margaret, center, during a luncheon hosted by the Metro Serra Club at the Ansley Golf and Country Club, Atlanta.
