St. Thomas More School alumnus Father Ricardo Bailey, parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Marietta, invites seventh-graders (l-r) Alan Pendrick, Adam Hall and Daniel Kirslis up during his homily at the Feb. 25 Mass that kicked off the school’s all-day Black History Festival.

(L-r) Third-graders John Kissell, Jason Phillips and Ian Watt watch as African drummer Adebisi Adeleke of Nigeria performs.

African drummer Adebisi Adeleke holds the largest talking drum in his repertoire, fondly known as the “Daddy Drum.”

Kindergarten teacher Kathy Merritt stands with (l-r) Leo Kowal, Emily Breaux and Ashley Moore as they stop at one of the Black History learning stations in the gymnasium, which was the location for the school’s Black History museum. In addition to the museum, there was African and African-American cuisine in Mulhern Hall, storytelling, a presentation on black inventors, a fashion show of traditional African dress and a performance by a dance troupe.
