To the Editor:
Thank you for your continued and consistent coverage of issues and events which reflect Catholic Church teaching on the dignity of all human life.
The Jan. 27 edition of The Georgia Bulletin is just one example of how our church stands out amidst the secular media in upholding the values taught by Jesus Christ.
However, I will take issue with one photo in the montage on page 4, which shows a woman holding a sign comparing the victims of the Asian tsunami and the victims of abortion. It appears that we are exploiting one disaster to draw attention to another, and the two are unrelated in origin. The earthquake and tsunami were acts of nature; abortion is an act of human will. The artist of the poster leaves the viewer with an unfair impression of the devastation visited upon the tourists and residents of those countries who will continue to be affected by the tragedy for generations to come. Because of the tsunami, thousands of children perished and thousands more have been orphaned.
Let us stay clear and focused on our message of respect for life; there is enough of God’s love for everyone.
