Published: February 10, 2005

(L-r) Coy Satterfield, his 15-year-old daughter Evelyn and his wife Kim of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Atlanta, stand in prayer together. The National Day of Prayer for the African-American Family was observed during a Feb. 6 Mass. The day usually coincides with the first Sunday of Black History Month. The National Day of Prayer for the African-American Family was an idea conceived by Father James Goode, OFM, Ph.D., in Atlanta in 1989. This year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer was “Jesus Our Bread of Life Hallelujah!” (Photo by Michael Alexander)
