Published: December 2, 2004
ALPHARETTA—St. Brigid Church is sponsoring an Advent parish mission entitled “Are You Going To Give God Permission?” and featuring Father Tim Hepburn, director of the University Catholic Center at Emory University, on Dec. 6, 7 and 8 at 7 p.m.
On Monday, Dec. 6, the talk will address the question, “Will you give God permission to meet you at your point of deepest need?” On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the subject is “ Will you give God permission to heal, forgive and change you?” On Wednesday, Dec. 8, the subject is “Will you give God permission to bless others through you?”
The Tuesday and Wednesday evening services will include Mass for the feast of the Immaculate Conception (Wednesday Masses for the feast day are at 6:45 a.m., 9 a.m., noon and 7 p.m.).
Raised in Atlanta, Father Hepburn began study in 1982 for an architecture degree at Auburn University. In 1985, after some searching, he experienced a combination of “God finding him” and “him finding God,” which set him on a course towards priesthood. With architecture degree in hand, he began studies for the priesthood in 1988 and was ordained in 1993 as a priest of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
After serving as pastor to two parishes and as chaplain at Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, Father Hepburn was named director of the University Catholic Center in Atlanta, where he serves the students of Emory University, Agnes Scott College and Emory at Oxford. He also serves as assistant vocations director for the archdiocese.
A gifted speaker, preacher and musician/singer, Father Hepburn has worked in evangelization for youth through conferences such as the Steubenville conferences and Firepower conferences in New Zealand and Sonfest in Florida. He has spoken at Marian conferences, charismatic conferences and retreats, Life in the Spirit seminars, young adult retreats and many others.
His heart’s desire is to preach and teach the Gospel of Christ so that all may have the opportunity to turn from sin, personally embrace Jesus Christ, live in the Spirit and know the Father’s will.
