Published: December 2, 2004

ATLANTA—A special candlelight procession will be held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The event, which also coincides with the National Night of Prayer for Life, will begin with Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Atlanta, at 7 p.m., celebrated by Archbishop John F. Donoghue.

Immediately following the Mass, all are invited to join in a candlelight procession to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, where final prayers and a blessing will be said.

The procession will be accompanied by a police escort. Participants are encouraged to bring candles, and candles will also be available for purchase.

Sacred Heart Church, located at 353 Peachtree St., NE, is approximately 1.2 miles from the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, which is located at 48 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SW. After the procession, participants can use public transportation to return to Sacred Heart.
