At St. Andrew Church, 675 Riverside Road, Roswell, the prayer vigil will begin following the 7 p.m. parish Mass for the feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is a holy day of obligation. The vigil will continue until 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 9, which is the anniversary of the first apparition to St. Juan Diego by Our Lady of Guadalupe. The vigil will include praying a pro-life rosary each hour. Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 p.m. followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
At Christ Our Hope Church, 1786 Wellborn Road, Lithonia, the prayer vigil will begin at 9 p.m. on Dec. 8 and continue until 1 a.m. on Dec. 9. The vigil will open with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by a time of prayer for those wishing to conceive or adopt children and those mourning the death of an unborn child. The praying of the 20 mysteries of the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet will follow. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be offered at 12:50 a.m. to close the vigil.
St. Matthew Church, 25 Wilkins Road, SW, Winder, will hold the National Night of Prayer for Life on Wednesday, Dec. 8, and will continue with Forty Hours Devotion, a 40-hour period of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament that will conclude with noon Mass on Friday, Dec. 10.
The prayer will begin with a 7 p.m. procession on Dec. 8 beginning at the church’s statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Mass for the holy day will follow. After Mass exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin and continue for 40 hours. A prayer of consecration to Jesus through Mary will be offered.
From 8 p.m. on Dec. 8 until 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 the rosary will be prayed continuously in union with all those praying across the United States for an end to abortion. From 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 until noon Mass on Dec. 10 the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the church for adoration in preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas and in honor of Mary.
