Paulist Team To Give Bilingual Mission In Conyers

Published: November 11, 2004

CONYERS—A national Paulist mission team will lead the annual parish mission at St. Pius X Church in Conyers Nov. 14-18.

Father Robert Rivers, CSP, and Sister Dominga Zapata will speak to parishioners, and to all interested in attending the mission, which is open to the public. The theme of the bilingual mission is “Go and Make Disciples and Share the Word.”

The mission is an opportunity to take time away from the busyness of everyday schedules to focus on faith and to be spiritually renewed as a parish family. Catholics who have been away from the church for a period of time are also invited to attend one or more of the sessions and to use this as an opportunity to reconnect with their faith and the St. Pius community.

On Sunday, Nov. 14, a member of the mission team will preach at every Mass and the mission will open that evening from 7-8:15 p.m. followed by a social.

On Monday, Nov. 15, through Wednesday, Nov. 17, morning Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m., followed by a time to receive the sacrament of confession and by faith-sharing. Evening sessions will be held daily from 7-8:15 p.m.

All evening sessions will be presented in three separate groups for English speaking adults, Spanish-speaking adults, and English-speaking youth. Each evening session will be followed by a social. On Thursday, Nov. 18, there will be confession and faith-sharing, but no morning Mass. Mass will be celebrated during the closing evening session from 7-8:15 p.m.

Father Rivers is a national preacher, speaker and writer who is vice president of the Paulist National Catholic Evangelization Association and national leader of Paulist parish missions.

The church is located at 2621 Highway 20, SE, Conyers. For information call (770) 483-3660.
