St. Joseph School Students Volunteer To Make A Difference

Published: November 4, 2004

MARIETTA—On Saturday, Oct. 23, students, faculty, staff and parents from St. Joseph School joined millions of Americans across the country doing volunteer projects to improve their communities and help neighbors in need during the 14th annual “Make a Difference Day.”

This year the St. Joseph’s community wanted to “make a difference” in the lives of those who make a difference every day of the year. Students made cards and decorated gift bags, which were filled with goodies, and delivered them to Marietta neighborhood organizations.

Students in kindergarten through second grade selected the Marietta Fire Department employees; grades three through five honored the Kennestone Hospital Food Service employees; and grades six through eight delivered items to the employees at the Atherton Place Senior Retirement Community.

USA Weekend magazine sponsors Make a Difference Day in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging people in volunteer community service.  This is the third year St. Joseph’s has participated in Make a Difference Day.
