Holy Spirit Prep Establishes Junior High, Names Principal

Published: November 4, 2004

ATLANTA—On Oct. 29, Holy Spirit Preparatory School announced the formation of its Junior High School, comprised of 7th and 8th grade students at its new upper school campus located at the intersection of Northside Drive and Mount Paran Road.

Bob Pelletier, who most recently served as associate head of school, was appointed principal.

Pelletier will coordinate the academic program, discipline, and oversight of all programs concerning the junior high with Holy Spirit Prep School’s president, Gareth Genner, and headmaster Dr. Darren Pascavage.

Pelletier formerly served as dean of students for Holy Spirit Prep’s middle school and high school. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola University in New Orleans, La., and a juris doctorate from the Loyola School of Law. He previously served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps as an officer in the U.S. Army and practiced law in Atlanta. He has coached basketball, golf, soccer and track and field.

Genner said the junior high was formed to address the different challenges—both academic and social—faced by seventh- and eighth-grade learners compared to high school students.

“To distinguish the junior high from the high school, it is important to appoint an administrator who is responsible only for the junior high,” he said. “There will be separate social events and student government representatives for the junior high.”

Holy Spirit Preparatory School is an independent, accredited Catholic preschool through 12th-grade college preparatory school located within the perimeter and serving families throughout greater Atlanta.
