New Shrine To Grace Annual Rosary Rally

Published: October 7, 2004

RIVERDALE—The 33rd Annual Archdiocesan Rosary Rally will be held on Sunday, Oct. 24, at Our Lady of Vietnam Church, beginning at 3 p.m. The outdoor rosary procession will be followed by an outdoor concelebrated Mass, with Archbishop John F. Donoghue as principal celebrant and homilist. Priests of the archdiocese are invited to concelebrate. This Mass will fulfill the Sunday obligation.

Msgr. Francis Pham van Phuong, pastor, and his parishioners have built a shrine to Our Lady of Vietnam (Our Lady of Lavang) with a 13-foot statue that will be dedicated by Archbishop Donoghue during the outdoor program.

The program will include a prayer for vocations, led by a member of the Serra Club. Members of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, will serve as the honor guard. Deacon Bert Berding, spiritual director of the Rosary Rally committee, will be master of ceremonies.

Members of the Rosary Rally committee hope that Catholics from parishes around the archdiocese will join with the Vietnamese community in imploring our Blessed Mother’s intercession for the many crises all are facing.
