Published: September 23, 2004
ATLANTA—The annual Sisters’ Appreciation Day hosted by the Serra Clubs of Atlanta will be held this year in the beautiful and artistic setting of the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
Taking advantage of a world class art exhibit currently underway at the Botanical Garden, which features the shaped glass sculptural forms created by artist Dale Chihuly situated within the landscape of the gardens, the Serrans will host a catered lunch, followed by tours.
The event will be held Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Ave., NE, Atlanta. A registration and social time will be held from 12:30-1 p.m., followed by lunch from 1-2 p.m., and small-group, guided tours of the garden and the Chihuly exhibit from 2-5 p.m. The cost is $40 per person or $80 per couple. This includes admission into the garden and exhibit.
“For the past 30 years, Dale Chihuly has been a dominant presence in the art world and this exhibit will encompass monumental shaped glass sculptural forms with beautiful landscaping, plants and flowers,” said Bill Spalding, president of the Metro Serra Club of Atlanta. “Please take this opportunity to show your appreciation and support for the Sisters of our diocese. It will be a beautiful day of friendship, food, art, guided tours and creative displays of glass and gardening.”
Sisters serving in the Archdiocese of Atlanta are the special guests of the Serrans at this annual event honoring their contributions to the church in North Georgia. The Serra Club is an international lay Catholic organization devoted to supporting vocations to the priesthood and Religious life.
The public is invited to attend the event. To obtain tickets, please make a check payable to Serra Club of Atlanta and send it to Tim Glennon, 580 Huntwick Place, Roswell, GA 30075. Luncheon and personal tours will be set by pre-enrollment and tickets may sell out.
