Youth News: What I Did This Summer by Megan Sennett

Published: September 23, 2004

In June, I celebrated my confirmation. I chose St. Catherine of Sweden as my patron saint. She is the patron saint of protection against abortion. She and her mother, St. Bridget, formed a group that translates religious writings, and I really enjoy writing. My sponsor was my grandma, who lives in Columbus, Ohio.

I also volunteered with Vacation Bible School at St. Brigid Church this summer. The theme was “St. Brigid Olympic Games.” It was the first time that I had served as a main group leader, and it was so much fun leading my group of about 15 third-graders for the week.

I also went to the beach at Jacksonville, Fla. I went to see my grandmother in Columbus and to the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. My mom, two of my aunts and an uncle are all alumni, and we usually try to go to the campus every summer. It is absolutely beautiful and one of the most tranquil places in the world.
