GA Bulletin Clarification

Published: September 9, 2004

The Sept. 2 Georgia Bulletin article on the Advice & Aid Pregnancy Problem Center in Hapeville failed to mention the existence of another Catholic crisis pregnancy center in the archdiocese, Seamless Garment Catholic Worker in Marietta.

In the tradition of social activist Dorothy Day and the Catholic Worker movement, this pro-life “house of hospitality for women in crisis pregnancies,” founded in 2002 and located at 636 Tom Read Drive, has a prison ministry and provides shelter for homeless women during their pregnancies and until their children are 3 to 6 months old.

Other pregnancy services include breast-feeding support, mentoring, job search assistance, abstinence education and parenting classes, and a maternity and baby resource center with diapers, blankets, strollers, clothing and cribs.

In October the center plans to expand into a second nearby house to serve more women.
