Young Adult Events To Feature Acclaimed Speaker

Published: September 2, 2004

ATLANTA—Tammy Evevard, a nationally acclaimed speaker from Colorado, will be doing a three-night series in Atlanta especially for young adults Sept. 13-15 at various young adult events in the archdiocese.

Evevard will bring her enthusiastic speaking style and story telling to three different events sponsored by various young adult ministries.

On Monday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m., she will speak at WOW—Wide Open Worship—at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road, NE, in Atlanta. With music led by Jon Ferguson and the REVIVE band, the evening will feature eucharistic adoration and Evevard’s talk entitled “Dare You to Move.” In this discussion about being called by a loving God to be all that is possible, Evevard will help young adults answer the question, “Who am I and where do I fit in this adventure of life?” The evening is sponsored by the Spirit and Truth ministry, and more information can be found by visiting their Web site at www.sandt.org or by contacting Mike Judge at (770) 313-3132 or at judgem@bellsouth.net.

Tuesday’s talk will be sponsored by the Catholic Campus Ministry of Georgia State University and will be held on Georgia State’s campus in Veterans Memorial Hall of Alumni Hall on the first floor. Evevard’s talk entitled “Song of our Soul” will be geared especially toward college-age young adults, and will explore “the songs that (young adults) had in their hearts as children and the cry in their hearts today as adults that scream out for something more.” A social will begin at 6 p.m., and the talk will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Evevard will conclude her speaker series at the Sept. 15 Theology on Tap held at the Five Seasons Brewery, 5600 Roswell Road, Suite 21, in The Prado in Atlanta. The evening, sponsored by the archdiocesan young adult ministry office (YAM), will begin with a social at 7 p.m., followed by Evevard’s talk at 7:30 p.m. and then a question and answer session. Entitled “Don’t Call Me Names,” Evevard will speak to the young adults about all that they are expected to be and the many names they are called. She will explore the names that “really count,” including those which God uses for his children. For more information, call Ann Blasick at (404) 885-7222 or e-mail her at
