CKS Ambassadors Ease First Days Of School

Published: September 2, 2004

ATLANTA—Christ the King School students are ensuring that no one is a stranger on the first day of school.

Helping to ease first day jitters, members of the Student Ambassadors Program in grades two through eight extend welcoming greetings to newly accepted students well in advance of opening day. They write letters to new students and mail them during the summer break, and many student ambassadors and their families plan cookouts or outings with newcomer families as a way to welcome them to the CKS community.

Early in August, student ambassadors and new students meet at the school for tours, activities and refreshments. Student ambassadors then continue to extend their special welcome throughout the first few weeks of school, often establishing long-lasting friendships.

As ambassadors of welcome, CKS student ambassadors act as tour guides for prospective parents at the annual open house and also conduct individual tours for prospective students throughout the school year.
