Live Nativity To Be Held In St. Mary Magdalene’s Barn

Published: December 4, 2003

SHARPSBURG—St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church will present its first annual Live Nativity on Friday, Dec. 12, and Friday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. The special pageant of the Nativity will be held in the parish’s tin barn on the church property on Lower Fayetteville Rd. near the intersection of State Road 154.

The new parish, which was elevated from a mission to a parish in October, has extended an invitation to the public to join with them for this special evening event, depicting the birth of Jesus Christ in a manger in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. The story of the Nativity will be reenacted by over two dozen middle school children of St. Mary Magdalene Church’s religious education program. Members of the parish’s youth ministry will narrate the story.

Also participating in the Nativity pageant are members of the children’s choir, which features several age groups. The popular children’s choir members will also sing at St. Mary Magdalene’s Christmas Eve 5 p.m. Children’s Mass at East Coweta High School.

St. Mary Magdalene’s property has plenty of parking, and church assistants will direct visitors to parking spaces adjacent to the barn. The Women’s Guild of the parish will provide refreshments for all following the presentation of the Nativity pageant.

Father Dan Fleming, newly installed first pastor of St. Mary Magdalene, said he was happy the parish could welcome area residents to its very first Live Nativity pageant.

“We want to share with all our friends and neighbors in the community the wondrous story of Bethlehem and hope they will join our parish family in this joyful evening, which will certainly become a yearly event for us.”
