Fund-raiser To Benefit Scholarship, St. Vincent de Paul
Published: December 4, 2003
ATLANTA—Atlanta-area native and world-ranked tennis player Brian Vahaly, along with friend Andy Roddick, ranked no. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals, will host an all-star gala fundraiser on Dec. 12-13 at the Racquet Club of the South. Also attending will be pop vocalist and actress Mandy Moore.
Proceeds from the event will help fund Brian’s Brighter Future Foundation, which provides college financial assistance, with a portion of the funds being donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society to assist them in serving those in need through “Love in Action.”
“Faith and education are very important to me. I feel fortunate that I am in a position to help those in need. Tennis scholarships are very difficult to find, and I want to give others the opportunity I was given, Vahaly said. “I also want to support the St. Vincent de Paul Society as my family and I have seen firsthand the good that is done by the SVdP Conference through the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Church.”
The weekend’s events will include celebrity pro-am tournament featuring Vahaly and Roddick, receptions, silent and live auctions and a special Kid’s Tennis Day on Saturday, Dec. 13. For more information contact Mark Karell at (770) 986-4209. |
