Brunch To Honor Msgr. Kiernan
Published: November 27, 2003
On Sunday, Dec. 7, some 150 alumni and friends of Providence College (Rhode Island) will gather at All Saints Church, Dunwoody, for a brunch following the 10:30 a.m. Mass in the church.
The occasion is the awarding of a scholarship in honor of one of its alumni, Msgr. R. Donald Kiernan, pastor of All Saints Church and a vicar general of the archdiocese. A 1945 graduate of Providence College, Msgr. Kiernan was awarded an honorary doctorate of law degree by the Dominican institution in 1999, the occasion of his 50 years as a priest in Georgia. Attending the brunch on Dec. 7 will be Father John Peterson, OP, a member of the faculty, and David Brown, vice president for development.
A golf tournament held at the Heritage Golf Club in Duluth netted over $40,000 for the scholarship. Mike Post (a graduate) and Dave Piper managed the tournament, and Karen Hoppe began the initial phase of donations. Anyone wishing to contribute to this scholarship is asked to send their checks to Providence College (Msgr. Don Kiernan scholarship), 2443 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338. |
