Nursing Director Honored

ATHENS—Brenda Dugger, RN, vice president of nursing services at St. Mary’s Health Care System, has received the Leadership in Health Care Administration Award from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University.

Dugger is responsible for all aspects of in-patient nursing services for St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, a full-service hospital licensed for 197 beds that provides general hospital services, a 24-hour Emergency Center, in-patient and out-patient surgery and offers areas of special focus in neurosciences, orthopedics, women’s health, children’s health and gastroenterology. She also teaches as an adjunct nursing professor at Emory University. Prior to coming to St. Mary’s, she served at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, as director of neurovascular services, infusion therapy treatment, psychological services, nursing consultation and orthopedic and reconstructive services. She received her nursing diploma from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, her bachelor’s degree from St. Francis University, Joliet, Ill., and her master’s in healthcare administration from Mercer University, Atlanta.
