Sister Mary Kay Finneran To Be Honored For 18 Years Of Service Oct. 30 With Mass, Dinner

Published: September 25, 2003

ATLANTA—Sister Mary Kay Finneran is returning to her St. Vincent de Paul Sister of Charity community in New York after 18 years of dedication and service with St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, the Atlanta St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Cedar Hill Enrichment Center.

Originally a school nurse with St. Pius X, she created the Community Outreach student service program as part of campus ministry. As director of conference services for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and as past-president and an original board member of Cedar Hill Enrichment Center, she has touched thousands of lives and woven a loving tapestry of compassion and service.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, a Mass, dinner and celebration in her honor will be held at St. Pius X High School. Archdiocesan columnist and speaker Msgr. Richard Lopez will celebrate the Mass at 6 p.m. The dinner will be held at 7:30 p.m.

During the event, the establishment of two funds to continue the work and spirit of devoted service to others that Sister Finneran exemplifies will be announced: the St. Vincent de Paul Sister Mary Kay Client Assistance Fund, which will provide support for programs serving those in need and the Cedar Hill Sister Mary Kay Program and Scholarship Fund, which will provide support for women’s spiritual journeys through Cedar Hill programs.
