November Magnificat Speaker Is Beverly Stone
Published: September 25, 2003
LILBURN—Beverly Stone, the wife of Deacon Jim Stone and the mother of two sons, will speak on her lifelong faith journey at the November Magnificat breakfast for Catholic women.
Held at Killian Hall in Lilburn, the breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 8 is sponsored by the Atlanta Joyful Visitation chapter of Magnificat, a Catholic women’s ministry that began in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and now has chapters throughout the United States and internationally.
Modeled upon the dialogue between Mary and Elizabeth described in the Gospel of Luke, the breakfast, held quarterly, gathers women for a shared meal in an atmosphere of faith, gratitude and praise. Following the meal, a speaker tells her story of God’s work in her life.
The breakfast will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Doors open at 9:15 a.m.
Born in Cumming, Beverly and her future husband met in college and converted to the Catholic faith in their first year of marriage. Ordained as a permanent deacon in 1995, Deacon Stone now serves at Mary Our Queen Church, Norcross.
For her talk’s focus, she has chosen Proverbs 3: 5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not; in all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Her lifelong process of growing in faith has helped her to see that the crosses have served as a catalyst to know and love Jesus Christ more intimately. She will speak of how she has found fulfillment through seeking the Lord’s will in her life circumstances and discovering the joy of surrendering to a gentle, loving and compassionate God. Mary has become her role model of surrender and trust, a spiritual mother and companion in times of struggle and joy.
The breakfast includes music provided by the Magnificat music ministry and a time of intercessory prayer. An opportunity for confession is available following the meal.
The chapter is guided by a service team coordinated by Susie Goodrow, a member of St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn. Father Joseph Mullakkara, MSFS, is the spiritual advisor.
Tickets are $5 and are sold by mail through Oct. 31. Seating is limited and no tickets are sold at the door. Clergy and Religious may attend free of charge, but are asked to request a ticket for meal planning purposes.
