ATLANTA—The public is invited to an ecumenical choir festival, “Let the Church Sing Amen!” which will be held Sunday, Oct. 5 in the new sanctuary of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Sponsored by the archdiocesan Office for Black Catholic Ministry, the two-hour event will include a variety of joyful musical and dance proclamations of praise from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Father Roy Lee and Monica Kaufman, WSB-TV2 anchor, will lead and emcee the festival, which organizers describe as a cross-cultural faith community “lifting holy praise to God.”
“And like God’s enduring grace and nurturing love throughout the ages, this concert is free,” the organizers say. Coordinators are Janis Griffin and Darice Gamble.
Among those taking part will be the Generation Chosen Youth Choir from Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atlanta; the Cung Viet Choir from Our Lady of Vietnam Catholic Church, Riverdale; the Celebration Singers and Atlanta New Vision Singers from First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville; musician Jerry Aull from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Peachtree City; the Mother of God (El Coro de Attebeira) Hispanic Choir from St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Jonesboro; the Inspirational Sounds of Praise from Wheat Street Baptist Church, Atlanta; the Archbishop James P. Lyke Memorial Mass Choir with members from 10 Catholic parishes; the Lyke House Drummers from the Lyke House Catholic Center at Atlanta University Center; and the Amazing Grace Liturgical Dancers from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Atlanta.
