
St. Joseph School Holds Tennis Fund-Raiser

ATHENS—The sixth annual St. Joseph School (Athens) Tennis Tournament fund-raiser will take place on the weekend of Sept. 26-28 at the Athens Country Club, Bishop Park and Oconee High School.
Adult mixed doubles and men’s and women’s singles and doubles matches will be played in a round-robin format during three-hour time slots. Awards will be presented to winners in each division.
Cost is $35 for a doubles team and $20 for single players.
“It’s become a very popular community event here and it’s a fund-raiser for St. Joseph’s. We’ll use (proceeds) for technology advancement” in the elementary and middle schools, said tournament chairperson and St. Joseph parent Madge Dennis, adding that water, Powerade and balls will be provided.
Registration forms are available at St. Joseph School, 134 Prince Ave., or at the Bishop Park Tennis Office, Herman C. Michael Park, Athens Country Club, Jennings Mill Country Club and various other locations around town. Registration is also available online at www.sjsathens.org. Deadline for registration is Sept. 23.
The title tournament sponsor is Gary L. Jones, DMD.
