Young Adults To Explore Beliefs On Upcoming Retreat
Published: August 21, 2003
ATLANTA—The archdiocesan Office of Young Adult Ministry will hold a retreat called "Confirmed In Truth" Sept. 5-7 at Covecrest LIFE TEEN Camp and Retreat Center in the north Georgia hamlet of Tiger.
The retreat is an opportunity for participants to explore the gifts of the Holy Spirit, learn how to explain what they believe and how to live out the grace of their own confirmation. It is designed to give young adults, ages 19-40, single and married, the chance to get to know Jesus Christ on a more intimate level and meet other young adults searching for truth.
The retreat will begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 5 and end around noon Sept. 7. The weekend will include Mass, praise and worship music, eucharistic adoration, living rosary, talks by priests and young adults, apologetics, skits, the opportunity for confession, sports, bonfire and "s'mores."
Father Eric Hill, parochial vicar at Prince of Peace Church in Buford, will be one of the priests serving on the retreat. Music will be led by Jon Ferguson of the Revive Band and Kevin McCarron, youth minister at Good Shepherd Church in Cumming.
Covecrest is located approximately two hours north of Atlanta. Carpools will be arranged. A camp set in the North Georgia mountains, Covecrest has a quaint, white 100-year-old chapel sitting on a lake and nearby waterfalls. The grounds offer a serene setting to meditate on God's beautiful creation and take long walks. For more information, visit the Web site at www.lifeteen.org/covecrest.asp.
The cost of the retreat is $90, which includes meals, materials and accommodations. For a registration form or information, contact Kersti O'Farrell, YAM director, at (404) 885-7290 or kersti@yam.org. Registration is limited and the deadline is Friday, Aug. 29.
