'Spin-Dating' Singles Event Set For Valentine's Day
ATLANTA - Imagine this: a ballroom filled with 330 Catholic singles, ages 21-40, eating a delicious three-course meal. They appear to be enjoying their food and each other's company, but then suddenly everyone grabs their glasses, silverware and cloth napkins and switches tables.
What's just happened? Is it an event gone awry? No, it's Spin Dating, the mixer dinner-dance designed specifically to be high in fun and low in pressure hosted by the archdiocesan Office of Young Adult Ministry.
At the beginning of the evening, everyone is given a nametag identifying three different tables. They will eat their salad at the first table, main entrée at the second table and dessert at the third table. But to help everyone at the table get to know everyone else, each course of the meal involves a different icebreaker activity.
Spin Dating I was held last June and drew over 330 singles from throughout the archdiocese. Spin Dating II is coming Valentine's Day, Friday, Feb. 14. It will be held at the Westin Perimeter, Seven Concourse Parkway, Atlanta, from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. Cocktail hour will be from 7-8 p.m., followed by the mixer dinner from 8-10 p.m. and dancing from 10 p.m.-1 a.m.
The dress code is business casual-anything in between jeans and tuxedos. The cost is $40 per person, which includes dinner. A cash bar is available.
Spin Dating II is limited to 250 men and 250 women. Tickets can be purchased by downloading a registration form from the Web site www.yam.org. All forms must be postmarked by Saturday, Feb. 1. For information contact Ann Blasick at firstname.lastname@example.org or (404) 885-7222.
