National Organization Aids Local Groups

ATLANTA - Catholic Campaign For Human Development is a worldwide organization - with roots in individual communities. Here in the archdiocese, the development helps 43 low-income community groups with small community organizing grants, technical assistance and workshops. Individual donations support literacy projects like "Operation Peace," "Community Gardens" and curb market projects like "West End Community Garden." It also helps refugee women integrate into American society with programs like "SHARE." Twenty-five percent of funds collected goes to support local organizations in the Archdiocese of Atlanta and provide workshops for low-income community groups on funding and development. Seventy-five percent of funds collected today goes to the CCHD national office to give grants to these same organizations for up to $50,000.

On Nov. 24, the second collection will be for the CCHD. For more information about the local CCHD committee and how your parish can get involved please contact Catholic Social Services, Inc., asking for Simone Turman at (404) 885-7265 or Jay Francis Springs at (404) 885-7208.
