Sister Takes First Vows As Hawthorne Dominican
HAWTHORNE, N.Y. - Sister M. Josepha, OP, professed first vows with the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne on Sept. 14 at the community's novitiate in New York. The Mass was celebrated by Father Jacob Restrick, OP.
The order staffs Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta, which provides free care for patients who have incurable cancer.
Sister M. Josepha, a native of the Philippines, came to the United States with her family in 1985. She holds an associate of arts degree from Bainbridge Junior College and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Valdosta State University in Georgia. Before entering the community, she worked in a critical care unit in Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Her sister, Sister Alma Marie, OP, is also a member of the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne.
