Two Senior Priests Retire; New Pastors; New Parochial Vicars Assigned
ATLANTA-Archbishop John F. Donoghue has announced the following priest assignments.
PASTORS RETIRE
 Msgr. Daniel O'Connor, pastor of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Atlanta, has been granted retirement, effective July 8.
 Father Edward Danneker, pastor of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, Dahlonega, has been granted retirement, effective July 15.
PASTOR ON SABBATICAL
 Father Albert Jowdy, pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alpharetta, has been granted a one-year sabbatical for study, effective July 8.
PASTOR ASSIGNMENTS
 Msgr. Stephen Churchwell, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Atlanta, has been assigned pastor of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, Dahlonega, and Christ Redeemer Mission, Dawsonville, effective July 15.
 Father Craig David, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Carrollton, has been assigned as pastor of St. Anthony Church, Atlanta, effective June 10.
 Msgr. James Fennessy, pastor of St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn, has been assigned as pastor of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Atlanta, effective July 8.
 Father Austin Fogarty, parochial vicar at St. James the Apostle Church, McDonough, has been assigned as pastor of St. George Church, Newnan, effective July 8.
 Father Timothy Gadziala, returning from study of canon law at Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., has been assigned as pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Carrollton, effective June 10. He has also been assigned to work in the Metropolitan Tribunal three days a week.
 Msgr. Frank Giusta, on special assignment at Iglesia de Santa Lucia, El Paso, Texas, supervising a cultural immersion program for the Archdiocese of Atlanta, will return to the archdiocese and has been assigned as pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Atlanta, effective July 15.
 Msgr. Leo Herbert, pastor of St. George Church, Newnan, has been assigned as pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alpharetta, effective July 8.
 Father Larry Niese, pastor of St. Peter Church, LaGrange, has been assigned as pastor of St. Joseph Church, Athens, effective July 8.
 Father Victor Reyes, pastor of St. Joseph Church, Athens, has been assigned as pastor of St. Michael Church, Gainesville, effective July 8.
 Father Balappa Selvaraj, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Blairsville, has been assigned as pastor of St. Peter Church, LaGrange, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Mission, Warm Springs, effective July 8.
 Father Stewart Wilber, pastor of St. Michael Church, Gainesville, has been assigned as pastor of St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn, effective July 8.
 Father Richard Wise, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Decatur, has been assigned as pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Blairsville, and St. Paul the Apostle Mission, Cleveland, where Father Thad Rudd remains as the administrator. This is effective July 8.
FIRST ASSIGNMENT AS PASTOR
 Father Kevin Peek, parochial vicar at Holy Trinity Church, Peachtree City, has been given his first assignment as a pastor, as pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Decatur, effective July 8.
FIRST ASSIGNMENT AS ADMINISTRATOR
 Father Adrian Pleus, parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw, has been given his first assignment as an administrator, as administrator of St. Vincent de Paul Mission, Dallas, effective July 8. This is a mission of St. Catherine of Siena Church.
HOSPITAL CHAPLAINCY
 Father Thomas J. Meehan, pastor of St. Anthony Church, Atlanta, has been assigned as chaplain to the hospitals in the city of Atlanta, effective June 10, with residence at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Atlanta. For the sake of canonical status, he is appointed as a parochial vicar at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
CANON LAW STUDY
 Father Augustine Hoa Tran, parochial vicar at All Saints Church, Dunwoody, has been assigned to study canon law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., this fall and to serve in the Metropolitan Tribunal, effective July 8. His residence while in the archdiocese will be at St. Benedict Church, Duluth.
PAROCHIAL VICAR ASSIGNMENTS
 Father Sergio Anaya, PCP, who has been serving as a parochial vicar at St. Michael Church, Gainesville, and assisting Good Shepherd Church, Cumming, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Good Shepherd Church, effective July 8. He will serve in that parish and also assist Prince of Peace Church, Buford, on a part-time basis.
 Father Nathan Calhoun, parochial vicar at St. Monica Church, Duluth, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Lawrence Church, Lawrenceville, effective July 8.
 Father Robert Frederick Jr., parochial vicar at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Atlanta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Brigid Church, Alpharetta, effective July 8.
 Father Kevin Hargaden, parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Marietta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, effective July 8.
 Father Bryan Horn, parochial vicar at St. Brigid Church, Alpharetta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Transfiguration Church, Marietta, effective July 8.

FIRST ASSIGNMENTS
 Rev. Mr. Theodore Book, to be ordained to the priesthood July 13, will begin study for a licentiate in sacred liturgy at Pontifical Atheneum of St. Anselm, Rome, Italy, in September. He will serve as a parochial vicar at Mary Our Queen Mission, Norcross, from July 23-Sept. 30, 2002.
 Rev. Mr. Terence Crone, to be ordained to the priesthood June 15, has been given his first assignment as a parochial vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Woodstock, effective July 8.
 Rev. Mr. Dung Nguyen, to be ordained to the priesthood July 13, has been given his first assignment as a parochial vicar at St. Peter Chanel Church, Roswell, effective Aug. 5. He has also been assigned to work in the Metropolitan Tribunal two days a week.
 Rev. Mr. Joseph Peek, to be ordained to the priesthood June 22, has been given his first assignment as a parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw, effective July 8.

 Rev. Mr. Benjamin Serna Aviņa, to be ordained to the priesthood June 29, has been given his first assignment as a parochial vicar at St. Pius X Church, Conyers, effective July 15.
 Rev. Mr. John Shramko, to be ordained to the priesthood June 22, has been given his first assignment as a parochial vicar at Holy Trinity Church, Peachtree City, effective July 8.
