Children Taught Egg-Decorating Tradition Before Easter

Symbolic wishes for health, love, prosperity and happiness are drawn onto hand-painted pisanki eggs using a writing tool called a kistka. Each is presented as a meaningful gift to a friend or loved one. About 21 children from the Polish Saturday school and 17 adults took part this year in the egg-decorating tradition. Maya and Natalia Nori of Norcross learn how to decorate eggs using the "pisanki" method of painting with hot wax on Saturday, March 23. The Ukrainian tradition of egg decorating is taught each year at the home of Elizabeth Gurtler-Krawczynska, a member of St. Lawrence Church, Lawrenceville. She is assisted by Malgorzata Lipowska.
