MARIETTA - Father Bob Susann, MS, who suffered a stroke last fall, said "things are going well," with his recovery. Father Susann is pastor of the Church of St. Ann.
The pastor said he is back celebrating Masses and running the parish, and is also undergoing rehabilitation two times a week. Father Susann, who is affectionately known for his storytelling homilies, said that assisting deacons have been preaching at the Masses, though he has been giving the homilies when celebrating funeral Masses and weddings.
An Oct. 22, 2001 a stroke left Father Susann partially paralyzed on his right side. He said he has regained much of his strength in his right arm and is now concentrating on regaining strength in the fingers on his right hand.
"(The doctors) can't guarantee that I will recover 100 percent, but hopefully I'm on my way," he said.
Father Susann said he is grateful for the support he has received in the past few months.
"I just want to thank everyone for all their prayers and ask for their continued prayers for my complete recovery," he said.
