Korean Martyrs Community Celebrates Groundbreaking For New Chapel, Education Building
Archbishop John F. Donoghue joined members of the Korean community, representatives from the construction and architectural firms and Msgr. R. Donald Kiernan and Deacon Ray Egan of the archdiocese to bless and dedicate the ground where a new chapel and education building will be built. The groundbreaking on Dec. 28 signifies the beginning of the Korean Martyrs Catholic Center's first addition since the early 1990s, when the community moved into the former Baptist church on Buford Highway in Doraville.
MURAL OF MARTYRS-- A huge oil painting mural of the 103 Korean martyrs is currently in the church entrance. The mural was painted by Pius Chung of Roswell, a church member. The mural is 100 feet high by 198 feet long.
