LITHONIA—Christ Our Hope Church hosted an appreciation dinner party Aug. 25 for Father Paul Flood, pastor, thanking him for his leadership in the parish for the past four and a half years.

After planning the event for two months, a parish committee hosted Father Flood and about 250 parishioners of all ages that evening at a sit-down dinner in a beautifully decorated parish hall. The meal, prepared by committee members, included ham, chicken, meatballs, salads, fruits, an array of desserts and a sheet cake honoring the pastor. After dinner, a disc jockey supplied music for dancing. Parishioner Celeste Ganey coordinated the committee.

While pastor, Father Flood led the parish in building a new church, which is paid for in full, and renovating the former church into a parish hall to be used for various activities. Improvements have also been made to the grounds and continue to be made to help the parish.

On behalf of parishioners, Ganey presented Father Flood with a plaque saying, “Thank you, Father Flood. You made it happen.”

Parishioners also gave him a gift of $3,000, hoping he’ll use it for a well-deserved vacation. The pastor was reportedly “nearly speechless.” The parish is located at 1786 Wellborn Road.
