St. Joseph School In Athens Plans Addition

ATHENS—St. Joseph School recently broke ground for a middle school addition that is set to be completed by the fall.

On May 30 a ceremony was held on the grounds of the school to celebrate the construction process.

The Resun Company of Atlanta has been contracted to handle the construction of the 6,000 square-foot addition to the current elementary and middle school facility, which will add six new classrooms to the campus. The new addition will also allow for the completion of a science laboratory, music room and additional administrative offices.

Sister Mary Glackin, IHM, principal of the school, said that the school community is excited about the construction.

“This project is part of a master plan to continue to improve our wonderful school. Miracles do happen here and will continue to happen for those who believe,” she said. “Thanks to the generosity of the members of our school and parish community, this long awaited addition will soon be a reality. This long term plan will help us to meet the changing academic and facility-based needs of our students.”
