ATLANTAArchbishop John F. Donoghue has announced the
following priest assignments.
VOCATIONS DIRECTOR
Msgr. David P. Talley, chancellor of the archdiocese, will no
longer serve as director of vocations for the Archdiocese of Atlanta, but will
assume a part-time assignment in the Metropolitan Tribunal, effective June 25.
He will continue as chancellor and continue to be responsible for the Diaconate
Program, the Office for Black Catholic Ministry, the Hispanic Apostolate, the
Archives, and the Ministry to the Disabled.
Father Serge E. Ward, pastor of St. Michael Church, Gainesville,
has been named director of vocations for the Archdiocese of Atlanta, effective
June 25. Father Ward will reside at Nazareth House, a residence for men in
formation for the priesthood, and for canonical purposes is appointed a
parochial vicar at Blessed Sacrament Church, Atlanta.
PASTORS
Father James P. Adams has been assigned as pastor of St. Gabriel
Church, Fayetteville, effective June 25.
Msgr. Henry C. Gracz, who has been serving as administrator of the
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Atlanta, while serving as pastor of St.
James the Apostle Church, McDonough, has been named pastor of the Shrine of the
Immaculate Conception, effective June 27.
Father Daniel Stack, pastor of St. Anna Church, Monroe, has been
named pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Cartersville, effective June 25.
Father Richard K. Tibbetts, pastor of St. Mary Church, Toccoa, has
been assigned as pastor of St. Theresa Church, Douglasville, effective June 25.
Father Daniel R. Toof, pastor of St. Gabriel Church, Fayetteville,
has been named pastor of St. Anna Church, Monroe, effective June 25.
Father Stewart A. Wilber, pastor of St. Theresa Church,
Douglasville, has been named pastor of St. Michael Church, Gainesville,
effective June 25.
Msgr. Terry W. Young, returning from sabbatical, has been assigned
as pastor of St. James the Apostle Church, McDonough, and its mission of St.
Mary, Jackson, effective June 27.
FIRST ASSIGNMENTS AS PASTORS
Father Victor A. Galier, parochial vicar at Holy Spirit Church,
Atlanta, has been named to his first assignment as pastor of St. Matthew
Church, Tyrone, effective Aug. 6.
Father Darragh W. Griffith, parochial vicar at Holy Cross Church,
Atlanta, has been named to his first assignment as pastor of St. Mary Church,
Toccoa, and the mission of St. Catherine Laboure, Commerce, effective June 25.
Father Thomas J. Hennessy, parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Church,
Griffin, and priest in charge of its missions, has been named to his first
assignment as pastor of Sacred Heart Church and the missions of St. John the
Baptist, Thomaston, and St. Ann, Barnesville, effective July 5.
ATLANTA-EL PASO PROJECT
Father Paul D. Williams, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Griffin,
has been released from assignment in the Archdiocese of Atlanta to the Diocese
of El Paso, Texas, where he will serve as a parochial vicar under Msgr. Frank
Giusta at the Iglesia de Santa Lucia, El Paso. The priests serve seminarians
studying for the Archdiocese of Atlanta in a cross-cultural immersion
experience. The assignment is expected to last for four years. It is effective
July 5.
PAROCHIAL VICARS
Father Rafael A. Castaño, parochial vicar at the Church of
the Transfiguration, Marietta, has been named a parochial vicar at Holy Cross
Church, Atlanta, effective June 25.
Father Jorgé Christancho, parochial vicar at St. Michael
Church, Gainesville, has been named a parochial vicar at St. George Church,
Newnan, effective June 25. The appointment is intended to establish an Hispanic
ministry in that area of the archdiocese.
Father John C. Druding, parochial vicar at St. Andrew Church,
Roswell, has been named a parochial vicar at St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn.
Father Karl Duggan, parochial vicar at All Saints Church,
Dunwoody, has been named a parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Church, Griffin,
effective July 5.
Father Fernando Molina-Restrepo, parochial vicar at Holy Trinity
Church, Peachtree City, has been named a parochial vicar at St. Michael Church,
Gainesville, effective June 25.
Father Michael Onyekuru, parochial vicar at All Saints Church,
Dunwoody, has been named a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King,
Atlanta, effective July 5. He will continue to serve at the Metropolitan
Tribunal, Atlanta.
Father Fabio Sotelo-Peña, parochial vicar at the Cathedral
of Christ the King, Atlanta, has been named a parochial vicar at Holy Trinity
Church, Peachtree City, effective June 25.
Father Augustine Hoa Tran, parochial vicar at St. Thomas More
Church, Decatur, has been named a parochial vicar at All Saints Church,
Dunwoody, effective July 5.

Church, Alpharetta, effective Aug. 6.
