St. Pius Announces 2001 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

ATLANTA—St. Pius X High School has announced that Margaret Doig is the valedictorian and Matt Tettelbach is the salutatorian of the class of 2001.

The valedictorian is the daughter of Jim and Kay Doig of Decatur and a member of St. Thomas More Church in Decatur, where she also attended the parish elementary school. She was named STAR Student for the 2000-2001 school year, an honor given to the senior who receives the highest score on the SAT test. She received a perfect SAT score. She named her advanced placement statistics teacher Dr. Wright Vermilya as her choice for STAR teacher. She will attend Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind., in the fall and plans to major in math.

The salutatorian is the son of Dennis and Vicky Tettelbach and a member of St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn. He has been active at St. Pius and is currently serving as co-editor-in-chief of Carpe Diem, the school’s literary magazine, and is a member of the concert choir. He will attend the University of Georgia in Athens in the fall and plans to major in broadcast journalism.
