Governor Gives Public Safety Awards

AWARD HONOREE -- Standing between Gov. Roy Barnes, left, and Gary McConnell, director of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, Charles J. Topetzes, center, director of parole for the State Board of Pardons and Parole, is one of 13 recipients of the 2000 Governor's Public Safety Awards. Topetzes attends St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn, with his family and serves as chairman of the governor's Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, on which Msgr. R. Donald Kiernan, vicar general for pastoral ministries, also serves. The ceremony took place at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth.
