ATLANTA—Applications for master catechist for the year 2000 are now being accepted.

Master catechists are people recognized by the Archdiocese of Atlanta and their parish or school community as exemplifying the ideals of catechesis, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the Catholic faith tradition and communicating this knowledge using a variety of processing skills and methodologies.

Master catechists are entitled to present catechist certification courses for the archdiocese in their identified areas of expertise. This includes basic theology classes and teaching methods for all age groups. Master catechists are also encouraged to develop and implement courses meeting intermediate and advanced levels of certification.

Master catechists receive a pin and certificate designed by Bob Allen of the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta. This unique logo provides a special form of recognition for these accomplished religious educators.
