Decree Establishes St. Brendan Parish
The following Decree of Establishment has been issued by Archbishop John F. Donoghue establishing the new Parish of St. Brendan in Forsyth County:
The Catholic Church has been blessed with enormous growth in the area of Forsyth County. The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cumming has grown quickly in the last few years and to meet these growing needs, a mission was established in the Southern portion of Forsyth County, and subsequently named in honor of St. Brendan. That Mission has now grown to the point where it merits establishment as a Parish. Therefore, having heard the Council of Priests of the Archdiocese, in order better to serve the spiritual needs of the people, I decree that the Mission of St. Brendan be and hereby is canonically established as a parish, with the following boundaries: Western Boundary: Drew Road at the intersection of the Cherokee/Forsyth County line. South along the Cherokee/Forsyth County line to McGinnis Ferry Road (Fulton/Forsyth County line). Southern Boundary: Southeast on McGinnis Ferry Road to the Chattahoochee River (Forsyth/Gwinnett County line). Eastern Boundary: The Chattahoochee River North to Highway 20. Northwest on Highway 20 to GA 400. Northeast on GA 400 to Kelley Mill Road (Drew Road). Northern Boundary: Kelly Mill/Drew Road to the Cherokee/Forsyth County line. The effective date of this Decree of Establishment is July 9, 2000. Given in Atlanta, Georgia this 23rd day of June, 2000.
Most Reverend John Francis Donoghue Archbishop of Atlanta
