Jubilee Justice Is Theme At Black Heritage Mass

GUEST PREACHER -- Dr. C.T. Vivian addresses the congregation at Lyke House, the Catholic Center at Atlanta University, during the Jubilee Year 2000 Black History Month Mass. Speaking on “The Black Church and the Gospel of Life,” he encourages listeners to become involved in changing the country’s moral compass.

PREACHING -- Father Bryan Massingale, STD, of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, is homilist for the Black History Month Heritage Mass at St. Paul of the Cross Church, Atlanta. Preaching on the Gospel of Matthew, he said, in this Jubilee Year, we must reject old ways, adopt a new way of thinking and recommit ourselves to justice, rooted in truth and love.

HANDCLAP FOR THE LORD -- Jewel Johnson, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. Peter Claver and a parishioner of St. Paul of the Cross Church, Atlanta, claps her hand as she sings the responsorial psalm. The Heritage Mass is planned by the archdiocesan Office for Black Catholic Ministry.
