Judges Sing Praise For St. Pius Choir

ATLANTA—Members of the St. Pius X High School Concert Choir recently competed against five other choirs at the Heritage Music Festival in Orlando, Fla.

At the festival, held April 13-16, the choir, under the direction of Richard Marcus, competed against schools from as far away as Wisconsin and Alberta, Canada.

The performance included “Cum Sancto Spiritu,” a piece from Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” “The May Night” by Brahms/Frackenpohl and “Gloria” from “Missa Kenya” by Paul Basler. The St. Pius choir received a gold rating, the highest possible, for its performance and was awarded first place in its division in the competitive portion of the festival.

The Concert Choir is made up of freshmen Dani Barker, Sara Brown, Claire Fontaine, Caleena Hall, Cindy Lumanauw, Katie Moore, Joey Walton and Liz Williams; and sophomores Meghan Fowler, Jeff Gibb, Elizabeth Hogan, Lauren Homans, Katie Jacques, Abigail Kurland, Melissa Parris and Vera Yaun.

Also juniors David Bowick, Meghan Dowd, Austin DuFresne, Elizabeth Elledge, David Gillespie, Heather Longino, Sarah Slagel, Christina Stephens and Lesley Sullivan; and seniors Kim Greco, Leslie Herrel, Curtis Maddix, Molly Mahoney, Valerie Miller, Natalie Molnar, Edyta Motloch, Justin Roberts, Beth Sherberger, Elizabeth Teate, Gabrielle Thompson and Noelle Varriano.
