Seminary Scholarship Named After Local Priest

Fr. Pleus

ATLANTA—St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pa., has created the Father Adrian C.H. Pleus Leadership Scholarship to recognize the seminary graduate who is now serving as a parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Kennesaw.

The scholarship will assist with the cost of education at St. Vincent Seminary for students in need who demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

The $250,000 endowment was named for Father Pleus, who earned his master of divinity degree from St. Vincent in 1998, summa cum laude. He was ordained on June 5, 1999, at Holy Spirit Church in Atlanta.

Father Pleus, a native of Plandome, N.Y., also earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of the South in 1990 and a master’s degree in education from the University of Georgia in 1994.

Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, seminary chancellor, said that Father Pleus has influenced many people.

“Father Adrian has already had a deep impact on the lives of the many friends he has made over the years,” he said. “This scholarship will serve as a tribute to his many talents and as stimulus to encourage other young men to leadership in the priesthood.”

For more information about the scholarship, contact William P. Malloy, director of development, St. Vincent Seminary, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, Pa. 15650-2690, or call (724) 532-6740.
