Sharon Hulsebus, the seventh-grade teacher who coached the team, expressed pride in her students.

"This team has worked very hard and they are to be commended for their participation and effort in this very challenging math contest."

The Pinecrest team, taking the first place trophy for overall high team scores, included Katelyn Gordon, Nancy Fiedler, Richard Umemoto and Laura Ann Hulsebus, along with their alternates, Cristina Diodati, Lindsay DiRito, Randi Jackson and Patrick Gannon.
