Top Seniors Named For Academic Honors At St. Pius

ATLANTA--Karen Stanley has been named valedictorian for the St. Pius X High School Class of 2000.

The daughter of William and Alice Stanley of Hampton, the St. Pius class co-president is a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Hapeville, where she attended elementary school.

Actively involved at St. Pius, Stanley is a member of the student government, the National Honor Society, band, Latin Club and the Science Club. She also serves as a eucharistic minister, music minister and Peer Helper.

Stanley plans on attending Harvard University or Princeton University in the fall, with plans to pursue a career in medicine.

Marguarette Dau has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2000. She is the daughter of Van and Hong Dau of Duluth and attends St. Benedict’s Church and also attended St. John the Evangelist Elementary School.

Dau’s sister, Teresa, was last year’s valedictorian and her brother, David, is a sophomore at St. Pius.

Dau is a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Helpers, the French Club and Round Table, a discussion of current events. She also is a member of Literacy Action, which tutors Vietnamese children after school.

Fluent in her parents’ native language of Laotian, as well as Thai and French, she will attend Georgia Tech and possibly pursue a career in international business.
