Bishop Braxton Addresses Emory Gathering

BLACK BISHOP SPEAKS -- Bishop Edward K. Braxton, auxiliary bishop of St. Louis, spoke at Emory University’s Cannon Chapel on Feb. 15. The topic of his presentation was “The Magisterium, Catholic Theologians and Contemporary Theological Debate.” Wearing the pectoral cross that once belonged to his good friend and mentor Archbishop James P. Lyke, OFM, Bishop Braxton acknowledged how he missed the late archbishop in his introduction, as he spoke three days before what would have been Archbishop Lyke’s 60th birthday. Bishop Braxton’s talk was sponsored by the Catholic Scholars Guild, the Emory University Catholic Center and the Office for Black Catholic Ministry.
