Happenings At Catholic Schools

OPENING THEIR HEARTS -- (l-r) Joseph Tan, Katie Cordell, Robin Nevetral and Gavin McBrearity participate in “Share A Lunch Day” at Our Lady of the Assumption School, Atlanta, Feb. 12. A brown bag was sent home with each student asking them to make an extra lunch for this special day. The lunches were donated to the Friends of St. Martin de Porres, Central Presbyterian and Shrine Shelters.

FAMILY -- Andrew Smith, a first-grader at Our Lady of the Assumption School, Atlanta, displays a poster of one of the church’s stained-glass windows. For his 100th day of school, Andrew colored 100 sections of the window and wrote each of his classmates on the poster as well.

SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE -- Father Richard Lopez celebrates Mass for the approximately 100 dads who attended the eighth annual “Dads’ Day of Recollection” at St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, Jan. 9. The day of reflection was sponsored by the St. Pius Home and School Association.


SPECIAL PRESENTATION -- “Doc” Eldridge, mayor of Athens, presents Sister Teresa Ballisty, IHM, principal, with a proclamation announcing Catholic Schools Week at St. Joseph’s School, Athens, Jan. 26.


SPECIAL BOND -- Kindergarten student Sarah Dailey shares a smile with her father, Mark, at the “Doughnuts With Dad Breakfast” held at the Cathedral of Christ the King School, Atlanta, Feb. 12.
