Catholic Scholars Meet

ATLANTA--The Catholic Scholars Guild of North Georgia, a group of Catholic college and university teachers and students, held its first scheduled retreat at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, Conyers, Dec. 11-13. The contemplative retreat was directed by Father Thomas Francis Smith, OCSO.

The theme was contemplative prayer and the Holy Trinity. Sessions were held on the need for simplification; Evagrius and the fourth century Desert Fathers; the contribution of Meister Eckhart; “The Cloud of Unknowing” and the Trinity in relation to the cosmos.

Plans are in process for another contemplative retreat tentatively scheduled for June 1999. Interested persons who are active in education and would like more information may contact Dr. Victor A.
